Digital platform integrated with cameras to track boats coming in and out of the lake

McLean, VA – Nov 2 nd , 2022 – ARInspect, the developer of a data-driven, mobile platform that automates and transforms field operations, is working with the Utah Department of Natural Resources to prevent the spread of quagga and zebra mussels, a significant threat to the Lake Powell and other Utah waters.

Lake Powell is one of the busiest recreational lakes in the country, requiring the inspection of 3000+ boats per year. Boat inspections can limit the transfer invasive species by identifying their presence and enforcing decontamination rules and policies. Manual processes make keeping up with the volume of boat traffic difficult and delay the transfer of data to regional databases. Additionally, a portion of boat traffic happens when staff is not on duty.

The ARInspect solution includes the installation on cameras at each entry and exit ramp. The cameras will collect identifying information for each boat and will generate a record for each vessel’s entry and/or exit. All of this information will be immediately available to other state systems. Inspectors will utilize ARInspect’s mobile platform to gather and distribute inspection and identification details when on duty.

The ARInspect platform is a powerful suite of AI technologies that modernize end-to-end field operations in months (not years) and scales to meet the compliance, monitoring, and enforcement needs of any organization. It empowers organizations to move away from decades-old paper-based processes to meet growing caseloads with limited staff resources and become more proactive in the protection of our communities.

“The integration of our platform’s data management capabilities with camera capture is an exciting application,” said Vivek Mehta, CEO of ARInspect. “We’re looking forward to seeing how this automation helps the Utah Department of Natural Resources better manage the flow of people while stopping the transfer of harmful species and materials.”
